The Ralph J. Rangel Social Club became a part of COTHOA in 2014. Our goal is to build relationships.


Services:

Art: Art Instructor Ms. Geraldine Davis provides older adults with highly creative art-making activities which give a sense of joy, calms their minds, and reduces stress.


Bingo: Older adults gather to enjoy the game of Bingo, interacting and socializing with each other. During this time, older adults discuss the Center’s concerns, share ideas, and learn about upcoming events around the neighborhood.


Birthdays: Older adults’ birthdays are celebrated every other month with music, cake, ice-cream, and food or snacks.


Blood Pressure Screening: Staff workers screen and monitor older adults’ blood pressure and discuss or counsel them based on their individual results.


Case Assistance: We provide assistance to our clients with benefits, entitlements, applications, recertifications as well as referring them to other agencies that will be able to offer assistance.


Computer/Technology: Computer Instructor Mr. Grattan teaches older adults the basics of technology to meet their needs for a more connected, happy, healthy, and secure interaction with the outside world.


Exercise/Evidence based Sail: Designed to help older adults prevent and/or manage chronic diseases, adopt healthier lifestyles, and improve their health status.


Health reading: Older adults are provided with a variety of health topics to help them understand and deal with any health issues they are going through. Older adults are also informed of current health issues and alerts.


Movie: After watching a movie, older adults enjoy a group discussion and make suggestions for the next screening.


Music: Older adults enjoy singing and dancing to many different types of music, bringing back beautiful memories of their past. This helps them to be more physically active.


Table Games: Older adults gather in the Activity room and play many board games such as checkers, card games, chess, etc.


Trips: Rangel’s Advisory Board members set up trips to restaurants, movie theatres, Walmart, Casinos, etc., depending on the occasion and availability.


Virtual health promotional, educational, and recreational classes: Held daily via Zoom.
